Growing with Global 4 | Lucy Capon

The purpose of this is to give potential candidates in the business an insight into what it’s like to work Global 4.

Name: Lucy Capon
Job Title: People Engagement Lead

Tell us about yourself?

In a couple of sentences; What floats your boat? What are you like? What do you do out of work?

I like to think I’m a consistently positive and optimistic person and I love to be busy! When I’m not working my 8 month old son, Ted, keeps me on my toes.  I can’t wait until he is old to join me in my hobbies of climbing & long bike rides.

What is your role at Global 4?

I’m the People Engagement Lead at Global 4.  My role is to drive a culture that means something to the people that work here and hopefully we have a lot of fun along the way.  I work with all teams but particularly closely with the People’s Champions who are the collective voice of all our people.

What skills or qualities do you believe are essential for your position?

It’s cliché but I remember saying on my interview ‘I love people’ and I genuinely do.  I’ve managed teams within the Telecoms industry for 8 years so I understand the business and what we need to do to continue being a stand out place to work.  I’d like to think the people I work with would say I’m supportive, passionate and always strive to improve our working world.

How did your journey begin with Global 4?

In my sprightly 20’s I used to work in hospitality but I decided to move to a career with a better work life balance and found myself doing admin for a Telecoms company.   Fast forward to 2 years ago where I joined Global 4 as their Solutions Delivery Manager, responsible for the incredible team that manage the delivery of solutions to our customers .  My passion for all things people & culture was recognised and I’m so grateful to have been offered the role of People Engagement Lead once I returned from maternity leave.

How is Global 4 different to other companies you have worked for?

We don’t stand still, always finding new ways to improve our customers experience and being a place where people love coming to work. I love coming to the office and being around the buzz.

What is your proudest moment/biggest achievement at Global 4?

In my first 3 months at Global 4 my team won Team of the Quarter (one of our recognition and reward incentives). I can’t take all the credit, the Solution Delivery team are a talented bunch and I was very proud to be their manager.

What advice would you give someone considering a role at Global 4?

Take the opportunity! I worked at my previous company for 6 years so leaving was a huge leap of faith but I’ve never regretted it.

You can have three people for dinner (dead or alive) who would you have and why?

Obviously David Attenborough along photographer Annie Leibovitz and climber Alex Honnold.
