The following case studies illustrate how Global 4 works with customers to make significant savings on their telecoms bills whilst providing a much improved inbound call service.

Connells: 14 Years With Global 4

Back in 2000 Connells appointed Global 4 to look after their telephony requirements for their 165 Branches throughout the midlands and the south of England.

Since then they have dramatically reduced their telephony costs by installing over 150 NEC small business solutions using ISDN lines. By introducing the Global 4 call costs program they have reduced their telecom outgoings by 40% whilst improving communication throughout the group.

Installations have included not only the high street branches but head offices in Leighton Buzzard, Norwich and Scotland including several very large call centres.

After a year of consultancy Global 4 were instructed to supply, install and maintain NEC Telephone Systems in their main sites around the UK replacing the BT Featurenet service and other manufactures telephone systems.

The project totals are around 900 handsets and included a 132 acre site in Prescott. Global 4 accepted the challenge to install within 6 weeks and met all the targets and expectations.

In turn we set up the infrastructure for today including IP and allowing for growth in the future. This includes Global 4 handling all the lines, calls and maintenance activity.

The Pirelli cable division has recently renamed itself Prysmian Cables & Systems.

Unipart Install NEC Around The UK

Unipart Group, whose head office is in Cowley (near Oxford) is the largest distributor of motor spares in the UK, trading under the names of Autoparts and Brown Bros.

They also have a rapidly expanding logistics division, which stores and distributes products for most leading household names.

After 2 years of consultancy, Global 4 were instructed to handle the maintenance of their telephone systems (all makes) for all 350 sites in the UK, as well as billing over 2600 lines and the related call traffic. With Global 4 monitoring call traffic and line performance, it very quickly became apparent that the Global 4 proven formula of installing the state of the art technology would greatly reduce costs and enhance performance. This is turn led to Global 4 securing the contract to undertake a structured programme of replacement state of the art systems throughout the group.

Although Railpart is a stand alone subsidiary of Unipart, we feel they deserve a separate mention as Global 4 were instructed to research and develop the installation of a 220 extension IP telephone system from NEC on Cat6 structured cabling complete with disaster recovery provision on site. The systems were installed and employees trained within a few working days (unlike conventional telephone systems of this size) to the customer’s complete satisfaction. To the extent that several months later their other division NRS (National Rail Spares) installed the same solution.

Sequence Homes

Previously owned by the Royal Sun Alliance group with 350 branches through out the country. In October 2003 Connells Estate Agents purchased the entire share capital of the group making them the second largest estate agents in the UK.

Through the success of Global 4 working at reducing costs and improving efficiency at Connells, Global 4 were awarded the contract to install 350 Telephone Systems during the first six months of 2004 replacing the expensive BT feature line / feature net service.

Global 4 now handle the billing for over 3500 lines, millions of pounds of calls and nationwide service cover including structured cabling for the whole group.

This experience has helped Global 4 to become the leading supplier in the UK to the estate agent market place.

Other agencies benefiting from Global 4 are Countrywide Group including the renowned John D Wood, Andrews & Partners, The Frost Partnership, Townends, Benham & Reeves and hundreds of independents throughout the country.

Park Garage Group

With nearly 80 petrol retail outlets around the country and spiralling telephony costs, Global 4 were invited to review Park Garage Group’s telecoms expenditure.

As a new industry sector, Global 4 found this an interesting project to manage. Extensive reviews led to the installation of nearly 40 NEC small Telephone Systems, the management of all of their lines and calls and achieving the end goal of reducing costs.

This then led to a review of the data infrastructure that included the downloading of data from all sites as and when transactions took place. Global 4 were instrumental in the rollout of new computer systems and broadband services to revolutionise the way and speed with which data was processed.

Other petrol retails benefiting from Global 4 include Euro Garages, Hammond Group, Jonathan James, Manor Service Stations, MPK Garages as well as many other independent retailers.
